About the operation

The intervention is intended for individuals in any lifetime who are extremely disturbed by the appearance of their ears. They may interfere with the size and  shape of the ear.

Since children with protruding ears are often targeted by the mockery of their peers, it is best to take the child's intervention before entering school.

Children are operated in a hospital under general anesthesia, while we perform interventions on adult outpatients in local anesthesia.

The procedure lasts for one hour.

The cut is usually behind the ears, just above the fold, where the ear contacts the head and is unseen. Looking at the problem, we choose the most appropriate surgical technique.

A preoperative review and talk about preferences and options are critical in planning the intervention. Before the procedure, we will discuss the extent of the procedure and the scars.

After the operation,  a bandage is placed around the ears. 7 days after the procedure, sutures are removed.

The client must use the protective tape for at least one month after the procedure. The ear  staple stabilizes ear in a new position and prevents their twisting during sleep.

After the procedure, pain is minimal, as is swelling and bruising.

Ear, as the most outer part of our auditory body, is an important part of the image of an individual. It is essential to perceive one's own image - some protruding ears do not cause problems, others act sympathetically, while in childhood they attract unwanted attention, stinging and problems with involvement in the environment, and the burden can be easily transferred to adulthood.

Despite the generally well-known standards of what is beautiful and how facial and physical relationships show attraction as harmony and harmony, our eyes, to a large extent, attractively notice what is appealing in the media. In today's, increasingly visually oriented world, it is easy to present a beauty ideal on television and in daily magazines, as well as vice versa - someone with funny, protruding and big ears, a round face and a small growth, can easily be labeled as ridiculous phenomenon, freak, less intelligent individual. The fact is that the human eye and the brain are automatically perceived as acceptable, nice, attractive and harmonious without a meter or a hexagon, and a few facial features can show people how negative, but too large, irregularly shaped and protruding ears.

In the correction of the protruding ears, one can repair a projection, congenital one-sided or two-sided irregularities, asymmetry, size and deformation. It is difficult to talk about the ideal shape and size of the ears, because it strongly depends on other facial relationships. The ideal ear is an unseen ear.

The intervention is intended for all individuals in any lifetime who are disturbed by the appearance of their ears, whether it is size, shape. In the study on children, they found that they are much more interested in the ears than for other parts of the body. If the ears are deformed, peers may provoke severe delusions, which affects socialization, the child becomes less social, introverted, and even aggressive. Therefore, in the deformation of the ears, an early correction is desirable, even before entering primary school, but not before the age of 6 years. The number of these interventions has increased in recent decades and both sexes are equally represented.

Children under the age of 9 usually operate in the hospital and in general anesthesia, later when the child can clearly talk and the child shows a clear desire for surgery, the procedure can be easily performed in local anesthesia. Adult surgery is performed ambulatory and in local anesthesia.
